The Project

The Wellington Science City Proposal was intended a property development proposal that would ‘Make Wellington a vibrant, resilient and adaptable centre of research, science and innovation before 2030 by bringing the research community closer together to increase collaboration and performance.’ The proposal work was to develop options and a recommended configuration for the institutional footprint within the Wellington region that best supports enhanced performance of the RSI system, a plan that outlines the process and decision points to achieve this and an estimate of potential costings for consideration by the Minsters. Three centres of excellence were identified:

Centre 1: Public health and well-being

Centre 2: Climate resilience and adaption, natural hazards and ecosystem health, conservation and natural resources

Centre 3: Advanced manufacturing and materials, energy futures and biotechnology

Victoria University were asked to lead the proposal. The diverse and differing views of the stakeholders were holding up the progress of the proposal. To solve this Victoria University asked Johnny to come in and act as an independent Strategy and Investment Advisor.
